A listening ear, a caring touch
It doesn't sound like much to give
The cost is small
Just time and love
How can I not share these gifts?
If I don't have the time to give, something is wrong
Maybe too much self-importance
My priorities have to right
My thoughts need to be loving
It's really not "all about me"
That's where I make my first mistake,
Putting myself first.
I must have forgotten that:
The first will be last
Love your neighbor as yourself and
No greater love has a man than he would lay his life down for his brother
I am whole, not so fragmented
When I think of others first
Wouldn't you think it would be the opposite?
That when you're alone you'd be whole?
Some how, the more you give of yourself
The more there is to give
You're not so fragmented and haven't lost any pieces of yourself
Instead you find you're a much bigger piece of the puzzle than you thought
The fragmentation in the puzzle
Comes when each piece stands alone
Unconnected to the others
Then the picture is incomplete
The piece is useless and unfulfilled
