A Believer's Prayer for
Righteousness
By Judy Sky
Matthew 5:6 "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after
righteousness: for they shall be filled."
I
am the righteousness of God in Christ (Phi. 3:9). I am one with the ‘I AM' that
is Christ in me (Col. 1:27). It is his righteousness that is Christ in me. He
is the righteous man whose prayer avails much, and He lives inside of me. Shifting
and finding my identity in this righteous Spirit of God, abiding here and
operating out of this place is living and walking in the Spirit (Rom. 8:4).
While my identity and consciousness are found here, my flesh will follow. As I
walk in the Spirit, I will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.
I
will not read the Word of God to change my behavior, but I will read it because
I am already an adopted child of God, a brother of and joint heir with Christ
and it is the written word of my Father, and when I read it, it will
change my thinking, and my thoughts. This is what will transform my behavior.
This is what the process of my change will look like. This is how it will
happen. The word of God will wash and renew my mind to the state it was
intended to be in by design. I am transformed by the renewing of my mind, which
is renewed by the washing of the water of the Word of God, which is the only
truth about me.
When I, through my behavior and
actions, or words, have done something wrong and I immediately confess the sin
that dwells in my members and the truth that I know the difference between that
sin and who I really am in my Spirit man, that is, the righteousness of God in
Christ, I am walking in the Spirit. By believing and knowing, through the faith
that God has given to me as a gift, that I am a cell and a member in the Body
of Christ, who is that One who cannot and does not sin, irregardless of
anything else, I am walking in the Spirit.
