Download Fear I Can't Quit Sinning PDF (75.93 kB) By Judy Sky We’ve all felt it. We’re convicted by the Spirit of God, whether through a rebuke from a minister, or personal study of the word, or just hearing from God in general, that a particular area of our lives is being submitted to and put into the service of something that is not God and God will not have it. We begin to come to the realization that this thing, whatever it may be, has become so ingrained into who we believe we are that when we feel compelled to participate in it (and it could fall under any category; from rage to slothfulness, perversion to passivity) the compulsion is so strong that it overpowers us easily. The conviction comes repeatedly, and at some point we catch ourselves thinking, “There’s no way that I can beat this, but I have to because God is requiring it of me. I’m completely without hope of ever entering into what God is calling me to because I will never be able to put this part of what I have allowed my life to become into submission.” This is a complete and total lie from the father of lies. The truth about you is that, if you have received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, you have the indwelling presence of Christ radiating throughout your spirit twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, whether you feel like it or not (1 Cor. 6:19 ). This is the full presence of God, the Creator of the universe, concentrated into something as small and finite as your own human spirit, and it is quite more than enough to instantly shut down any compulsion that you may receive at any time if it is a compulsion that comes from the enemy (Js. 4:7). Fear of failing in this respect must be brought into the present second. Once there, it must be replaced with confidence and assurance that you are not a thrall of that sin but a fully functional child of God. When this awareness is maintained within each passing present second, my behavior will conform to it.
